Wayfair Loses Market Share to Omnichannel Retailers

In YipitData’s 2Q22 Home Goods Market Share Index: Pure Players, Wayfair continued to have the largest market share at 14.41%. However, the retailer is ceding dominance – down 1.04pp in total share YoY – as omnichannel retailers grow and consumers return to store.

Subcategory dynamics

Wayfair’s largest furniture categories have seen the largest declines in share of sales. Chairs and seating’s share of sales declined 1 ppt YoY. Patio furniture, meanwhile, declined 0.66 pp. 

Rugs & mats’ share of sales grew the most at +0.71 pp. The category is now the fifth largest on Wayfair, overtaking chests, dressers & cabinets.
