Data Product Engineer

YipitData specializes in analyzing web data for institutional investors. Three years ago YipitData consisted of 20 people. Since then, we've grown to 80+, have tripled our revenue and expanded our client base to include the largest institutional investors in the world.

We believe that an engineer should own all parts of the product they build, so your job will encompass the entire product cycle:

  • You'll investigate and evaluate the potential for new products
  • You'll help write technical specifications for your product
  • You'll take primary ownership for the development and maintenance of your product
  • You'll launch your product and have it collect live data
  • You'll work with data analysts to refine the resulting data
  • You'll contribute to the internal libraries used across products

We work in small, integrated teams, so you'll need excellent communication skills and need to be incredibly adaptive to changing requirements. Accuracy matters immensely, so you ought have an eye for detail and be conscientious about assumptions in the code. Because our products depend heavily on external sources, you should be inquisitive and excited to dig deep into issues.

Although we program in Python, we don’t expect you to know it — as long as you’ve programmed in a modern programming language, we will teach you the specifics of our technology stack:

  • Cloud hosting in Amazon Web Services with CloudFormation and Chef
  • Databases like Redis, MySQL and Redshift
  • Continuous integration and deployment with GitHub, Travis CI and Buildbot

What’s more, during your first two weeks, we’ll also teach you all about our business, covering topics like:

  • Financial accounting
  • Sell-side research
  • Outsourcing

Senior Data Product Engineer

As a Senior Engineer at YipitData, you will be responsible for:

  • Owning problems end-to-end, from understanding the user’s need to figuring out a deployment strategy

  • Maintaining a code quality that sets an example for others

  • Architecting solutions that will scale as we continue to grow

  • Providing technical direction to others

  • Maintaining documentation, being available for advice, and otherwise driving adoption of technology and best practices

  • Sharing knowledge with the rest of the team through internal talks and pair programming sessions

The Data Product Associate role is the key driver in our product development and product management. You’ll gain experience in:

  • Programming: Learn Python and SQL or sharpen your existing skills by contributing to all aspects of the development process, from design and implementation to deployment and monitoring.
  • Product Development: Build new products and learn how to create something out of nothing in a fast paced environment.
  • Data: Work with massive amounts of data on the performance of important companies, using proprietary methods. Your comfort with manipulating large data sets and deriving meaningful insights from them, without losing sight of the details, will be critical.
  • Sales: Work with our sales team and customers to drive engagement and revenue.

Bookkeeper

Remote

YipitData specializes in analyzing web data for institutional investors. Three years ago YipitData consisted of 20 people. Since then, we've grown to 90+, have tripled our revenue and expanded our client base to include the largest institutional investors in the world. 

We are looking for a part time Bookkeeper, as an independent contractor, for 15-20 hours per week.  Position is paid on an hourly basis and can be done remotely.

As a Bookkeeper at YipitData, you will be responsible for :

  • Monitoring inboxes for incoming vendor invoices and customer contracts.
  • Processing all vendor invoices and ensuring accurate payment timelines.
  • Managing vendor relationships and inquiries.
  • Preparing and sending customer invoices.
  • Analyzing receivables aging and following up with clients weekly on collections.
  • Reconciling and recording credit card transactions from our corporate cards.
  • Recording employee expense reports via Expensify.
  • Preparing and auditing annual 1099s using Quickbooks Online.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years experience as a bookkeeper.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Quickbooks Online.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and attention to detail.
  • Prior experience working at a start-up a big plus.

We are hiring a Business Development Manager on our Revenue team. This is a unique role working both on marketing and partnership efforts. This opportunity is a great fit for someone with a consulting or finance background looking to get into tech startups. 

As a Business Development Manager at YipitData:

  • You will grow revenue by generating high-quality leads through:
    • Further developing and scaling our existing digital marketing strategy
    • Working closely with our Product and Research teams to develop data-driven marketing collateral to power digital marketing strategy
    • Working closely with our Sales and Client teams to set goals and understand customer needs
    • Executing conference and events strategy
    • Measuring the effectiveness of marketing efforts and strategies
  • You will develop relationships and negotiate partnerships with third-party sources of data to support YipitData’s product expansion by:
    • Sourcing and developing relationships with companies all over the world that have interesting datasets
    • Coordinating with Product and Research teams to evaluate datasets
    • Building forecast models to understand the value the dataset and drive economic negotiations
    • Negotiating licensing agreements or partnerships with third-parties
