Way Day 2022 is Wayfair’s version of Amazon’s Prime Day. It’s the retailer’s biggest sale event of the year, and an opportunity for consumers to snag great deals on home furnishings, including kitchen appliances, outdoor furniture, and bathroom accessories. 

How did Wayfair increase global net revenue?

From a revenue growth perspective, this year’s Way Day 2022 resulted in an increase in global net revenue. Way Day 2022 grew 5% vs 2021, and was up 19% vs 2020 on a sale-by-sale basis. Way Day 2022 revenue accelerated through an increase in AOV (average order value) as consumers increased their total spend. 

How did Wayfair improve consumer experience vs Way Day 2021? 

Wayfair’s projected delivery performance (estimated item delivery from time of order) during the Way Day 2022 event reflected delivery time improvements from Way Day 2021. 94% of items ordered thru the week of 5/1/22 (Way Day 2022) have estimated delivery within 7 days vs. only 68% in the week of 5/2/21 (Way Day 2021).

What categories drove Way Day 2022 performance?

Wayfair's weekly Outdoor revenue, as a portion of total sales, saw continued seasonal tailwinds and reached a (2022) yearly high of ~26% thru the week of 5/1 (vs. a 2021 high of ~28%). More recently Outdoor decelerated to ~23% thru the week of 5/8, potentially marking the seasonal inflection point downward of the Outdoor category.

W's largest category, Bedroom, Bathroom & Living Room, remained flat ~38% thru the week of 5/1 (vs ~39% of sales thru week of 5/8).
